Tyla did the thing again, and honestly, we should just keep a trophy cabinet ready on standby.

South Africa (06 November 2025) – Tyla’s new single Chanel has debuted at #1 on both the US and the UK’s Official Afrobeats Charts at the same time. Double number one, same week, same song. That’s a first. For her. For all of us.

Chanel had people buzzing long before release day. Then TikTok got hold of it, and once Ciara jumps on your challenge, it’s basically over for everyone else. The track has blown up in the way Tyla songs tend to do.

And it fits right into the ridiculous run she’s been on.

She became the first South African to win a VMA, breaking into the Best Afrobeats category and beating global heavyweights like Usher and Burna Boy. She went on to claim a GRAMMY at just 23, before racking up another milestone by winning the iHeartRadio World Artist of the Year award – the first South African ever to take that title home.

Her debut album also crossed the 1-billion-stream mark on Spotify, cementing her as one of SA’s biggest global stars.

Now she drops ‘Chanel’ and casually rewrites another piece of music history.

What a time.

And SA’s afrobeats queen doesn’t slow done. She’s about to head off on her sold-out We Wanna Party Asia tour, starting in Tokyo before sweeping through Thailand, China, Indonesia, Singapore, India and the Philippines.

Represent!

So yes, ‘Chanel’ hitting #1 in two countries at once is massive. But it’s also just so Tyla. She shoots her shot, the world listens, and somehow she finds a way to climb even higher. We love to see it.
