There’s a simple and scrumptious cheese muffin recipe video doing the rounds, and South African’s can’t get enough. With non-fussy ingredients and sprinkles of down-to-earth humour, here’s what the hype is all about!

South Africa (11 February 2025) — South Africans like our recipes the way we like most things: simple and sprinkled with humour. This is why the viral Cheese Muffin Recipe shared by content creator Mandy Meyer (‘Running 4 Meyer’) is one that locals return to time and time again!

Because a good recipe doesn’t have an expiration date, the 2022 video is doing the rounds once again. Part of Mandy’s ‘Not Kak Fancy’ series, the Cheese Muffin Recipe is prefaced as being neither kak nor fancy, and what more could a busy South African ask for?

Passed down from grandmother to grandmother, the recipe requires only humble ingredients and utensils. Heck, you can even use a fork if you don’t have a whisk like Mandy did.

The best part about these cheese muffins though, is definitely Mandy’s commentary. Loyal followers of Running 4 Meyer know that Mandy rarely shies away from a giggle-worthy moment. Because of this, she’s managed to make a lot of nutritional content that’s equal parts informative and entertaining.

Though we’re not sure how Martha Stewart would feel about the recipe, we’re certainly fans of its down-to-earth, anyone-with-an-oven-can-do-this appeal.
