And just like that, the original Carrie Bradshaw—Sex And The City’s iconic author—will soon touch down in South Africa for a one-woman show!

Global (23 July, 2023) — South African Sex And The City fans, we’ve got good news for you! The original Carrie Bradshaw, author Candace Bushnell, is heading to South Africa to perform her one-woman show in two cities.

Bushnell—the creator of the Sex And The City world—brought life advice, love, friendship and laughter from New York City to generations of people in the city and far beyond who identified with the women on-screen.

What started as a newspaper column based on Bushnell’s experiences shared in the New York Observer soon positioned her as the original Carrie Bradshaw; the main character from SATC based largely on the author, played by Sarah Jessica Parker. Her tellings would transform into a pop-culture force to be reckoned through the books and hit show; challenging a male-dominated space in entertainment.

Taking to social media, the author shared her South African chapter-to-be just yesterday. She will be performing her one-woman show ‘True Tales of Sex, Success, and Sex and the City’ in Johannesburg and Cape Town come September.

As one South Africa user shared, “This is the highlight of my life”, while other non-South Africans encouraged Bushnell to stop by in their parts of the world.

The author’s acclaimed show will take place at Montecasino’s Teatro and Cape Town’s Artscape Theatre Centre. You can grab your tickets here.
