Even with a skyrocketing global music career that takes her to all corners of the world, South African singing sensation Tyla can’t deny her Mzansi roots!
United Kingdom (30 July 2025) – South African singing sensation Tyla may be quite the globe trotter these days, owing to her fast-growing music career, but even so, she can admit that there’s truly no place like home.
In a recent interview with UK-based digital radio station, Capital Xtra, the Water hitmaker opened up about some of her latest projects, accomplishments, collabs, partying with her parents and being proudly South African!
When asked, “If she could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?”, her answer was without hesitation, South Africa.
“If I could actually stay in South Africa and work and still do everything that I need to do, I would. I still haven’t found a place that feels like South Africa,” she said.
Now, Good Things Guy is known for how loudly and proudly we celebrate the amazing people, cultures, destinations, limitless talent and just all round beauty of our nation, but we think it is safe to say that it’s not just a way of convincing the rest world or the sceptics, that South Africa has a magic like no other – it just really does! And hey, if an A-lister like Tyla, who’s living the high life abroad, agrees, that should tell you something.
During the fun interview, the Grammy-winning pop star also touched on how fun and outgoing her parents are, reminisced on hosting the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards, described the success of her debut album being her “I made it moment”, as well as looking forward to touring on a larger scale in the future.
Tyla will also be performing in the upcoming 2025 Global Citizen Festival, amongst big names like The Weeknd and Shakira and another local, Ayra Starr.
This “pretty girl from Joburg” is conquering the world one mic at a time, and it warms our hearts to know that no matter where her music takes her, South Africa remains her absolute favourite place on Earth!
