Absolut Vodka was tired of seeing hate speech surrounding pride so they went along to some rallies, collected the hateful posters and served some poetic justice!
The world is filled with different people from different backgrounds, who believe in different things. That is okay, people are allowed to have different values and belief systems but when those people use their beliefs to harm others, it just isn’t okay.
Time and time again you see hateful things being written online and on protest signs around the world. In a world where hate is so rife, it is about time we start sharing more love.
Absolut Vodka often creates works of art on their limited edition bottles and recently, their Gay Pride bottle faced a bit of hate from the Westboro Baptist Church in the United States. The church went to their local bottle store on National Vodka Day to spread hate about vodka and pride. They showed up with signs that read “God Hates Drunks” and “God Hates Pride”. The group tweeted about the day in a Throwback Thursday post.
Little did the Westboro Baptist Church know but Absolut had secretly been working on a campaign so clever they were able to respond to the church the very next day… serving a splash of poetic justice along the way!
You see, Absolut has had enough of hate speech, racism, sexism, bigotry and every form of hateful behaviour. They spent the last year attending hate rallies across the globe, collecting the hateful posters being used. Then, they extracted the ink from those posters and used it to spread love.
A limited edition bottle was designed using the ink and on it, printed in 16 different languages, the word LOVE. A total of three million bottles were made using 70 percent recycled glass.
We just love the response.
So go forward and spread love and kindness to everyone you meet because together, we are better!
