Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga and Prince William sat down to have an important chat about mental illness, they had the chat in aid of the ‘Heads Together’ campaign for the Royal Foundation!

Prince William was moved by Lady Gaga’s open letter about living with post traumatic stress disorder, especially after his brother Prince Harry opened up about nearly breaking down. Prince Harry spent 20 years avoiding his grief after his mother passed away.

Prince Harry decided to talk about his past in the hope it would encourage people to break the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Lady Gaga also shared her story to show people that everybody suffers from mental health issues.

For the Heads Together Campaign Lady Gaga and Prince William did a video chat to discuss the effects of illness. Lady Gaga discusses her own personal struggle and how accepting it changed her life.

“For me, waking up every day and feeling sad and going on stage is something that is very hard to describe.”

“There is a lot of shame attached to mental illness, you feel like something’s wrong with you.”

“In my life I go, ‘Oh my goodness, look at all these beautiful, wonderful things that I have, I should be so happy’, but you can’t help it if in the morning when you wake up you are so tired, you are so sad, you are so full of anxiety and the shakes that you can barely think.”

“It was like saying, ‘this is a part of me and that’s OK’.” – Lady Gaga

The Prince asked Lady Gaga to meet up with him when she is in the UK next so that they could discuss the issue of mental health further. He too shared his thoughts about the problem,

“It’s time that everyone speaks up and really feels very normal about mental health, it’s the same as physical health.”

“Everybody has mental health and we shouldn’t be ashamed of it and just having a conversation with a friend or family member can really make such a difference.”

It is great seeing such popular people taking an issue like this head on! Watch the full chat below,
