OUTsurance has faced serious heat after an undiverse Fathers Day video was shared on their social media accounts, this is how South Africans stood together!
Time and time again we share stories about how South Africans stand together, another perfect example is of how the Twitter-verse came together to call OUTsurance out on their culturally exclusive and undiverse Fathers Day and Mothers Day campaigns.
It all started when someone noticed that the campaigns featured little to no diversity which is pretty shocking when you look at how diverse our beautiful country is! The insurance brand pulled the ad from its accounts. A user pointed out that the Mothers Day advert was the same and that too was quickly pulled from social media.
The backlash on Twitter came in defense of promoting all fathers (and mothers) and the diversity that is South Africa!

1) including only white men in an ad about Father's Day excludes men of colour from the conversation surrounding fatherhood #Outsurance

2) when targeting an audience as diverse as SA's, content should reflect this diversity #Outsurance

Oh and 3) the media production team is lacking in transformation if not a single person saw a problem with this ad. #Outsurance

The outbursts against #Outsurance shows how people can change the course of bullshit and racist tendencies stand up for equality #proudblack

Some users urged the insurance brand to make it right by donating to various orphanages, giving back to children that have neither a mother or father! We think this idea is brilliant!
Dear @OUTsurance as gesture of goodfaith &apology, be a father &donate R250k to 10 orphanages- 25k each in all provinces. Thanks #FathersDay

Some fathers also started tweeting and sharing images of themselves being awesome dads!
