A bakkie load of bottle tops arrived in Arrowe Park, ready to pay the way forward for those in good.
Benoni, South Africa (29 November 2023) — Two things that bring the Good Things Guy team immense joy are when helpers uplifting SA in different ways, help each other. When a bakkie load of bottle tops rolled through Benoni’s Arrowe Park recently, our hearts were warmed to know that the dedicated Litter Bugs and friends were behind it. And, that these tiny treasures would be making their way to another local hero, Lynn Crawcour from Tops & Tags for Wheelchairs.
Teaming up with 1st Benoni Sea Scouts, many hands made many more bottle tops possible for collection.
While the Litter Bugs can almost always be found on a clean-up mission, they often tend to go the extra mile for others by putting the work in to uplift people in other ways.
As you might imagine, there are many bottle tops and bread tags that lie discarded as litter. What many don’t know, is that these tiny pieces of ‘trash’ when compiled in bigger quantities, can become a treasured lifeline for somebody else—the premise of Tops & Tags for Wheelchairs.
Thanks to the bakkie load of bottle tops, wheelchairs and other essentials like sanitary pads become available for the people who most need them. When enough weight of these items is collected, Tops & Tags sells them to recycling companies and the proceeds go to essential items.
Whether it’s paying trash forward into treasure or recycling to give animals better lives, it’s enriching to know that something as accessible and helpful as clean-ups can open the doors to so many other avenues that make a difference.
