Cluny fetched Adam for a visit. It’s the first time he’s seen Snapper since dropping her off last week. The happiness that followed is the best part!

Free State, South Africa (13 January 2026) – Last week, Adam arrived at Cluny Animal Trust with his sick dog, Snapper, in his arms. He had walked a really long way to reach help. All he wanted was for Snapper to feel better.

Snapper was extremely ill. She’d been battling parvo, biliary and worms. At one point, it looked like her chances of survival were slim. Still, Cluny’s small team of animal heroes were not going to give up. Neither would Adam, and nor would she.

Love walked her there, and love would see her through.

She received around the clock love and care. Not only from her heroes and her dad who called after her every day, but from Cluny’s supportive animal-loving community.

Donations streamed in for Snapper’s medical care and for Adam, who with so little, went the extra mile for his beloved dog.

On Sunday, Snapper turned a corner.

Hope came that morning, when she greeted her heroes with a bark. She got up. She walked around. Lay in the sunshine. Enjoyed a full meal. Took her meds and rested peacefully. It was the first positive signs of recovery she had shown since her admission six days before.

She’s gotten even better since, and should be home with her dad by the end of the week.

Adam, who works odd jobs around the Fouriesburg area to support himself and Snapper, has missed her. He’s been calling after his four-legged love, checking in on her progress and hoping to have her home soon.

Without a car, he couldn’t easily reach the clinic for a visit. Thankfully, the wonderful team at Cluny have done another good thing by offering Adam a lift.

“Just like people, when we are in hospital, visits from loved ones and people that we know calm us down but more importantly cheer us up,” the team shared.

Adam was picked up and brought to the clinic this morning. It’s the first time he’s seen Snapper since dropping her off. With a beautiful garden as their backdrop, the two reunited. Then we cried.

“These are pictures taken just now at our clinic – it was so touching to see how happy she was to see him and of course Adam, this man that walked 10kms to get her to us…proving that not all heroes wear capes…was so incredibly relieved and grateful to see her, you can clearly see the bond that these two share and that is just magical!” shares Cluny.
