The Soweto Animal Rescue & Advisory Centre’s charity shop in Bellavista is calling on the community to help them put hope into a hopeless situation! They’re selling bales of clothing to make rent, and there’s one day left to help them:
Bellavista, South Africa (18 June 2024) — In the world of doing good for the vulnerable, places like charity shops play a big role in making ends meet. Having a charity shop helps buffer the financial challenges charities face; inviting a way for people to give back and gain, while opening the pool to more support for the charity in question beyond pure donations.
While their intentions are far wholesome than that of many businesses’, charity shops often have to fight much harder for support, especially with limited resources. When tough times come knocking, they knock hard, especially because there is so much at stake. However, it’s also during these times that the real heroes of our communities put on their unofficial capes and help put hope in a hopeless situation.
For one charity shop in Bellavista, hard times added up. The Soweto Animal Rescue & Advisory Centre’s charity shop found itself owing R36,000 in rent—no situation any organisation wishes to find itself in.
In case you haven’t met the SARC before, they are dedicated to rehabilitating and rehoming animals in and around Joburg, and play a hugely helpful role in making sure animals are looked after until they find their forever homes.
But, in a hopeful an attempt to raise their owing amount, the SARC has shared their shop’s situation with their community, as well as word that they’d be selling good quality bales of clothing at R100 each—essentially clearing out their store.
There is one day left to support them in raising the funds, and all are invited to pop in from 10am to 1pm tomorrow at 16 Bellavista Road, Bellavista.
