Stitch the dog went on a walk-about without his owner and was picked up by the coolest rescuer in Johannesburg, who even let him sleep in the bed.

Linden, Johannesburg – Kobus van Rooyen was distraught when his dog Stitch disappeared. He posted a missing post on his local Facebook community page asking if anyone had found his beloved dog.

The post garnered quite a few comments from concerned residents when suddenly a post was shared from a young man named Thabo Richard Mlangeni.

Thabo had found Stitch and shared a photo of the two in his kitchen explaining that he has the pup and had renamed him Gilbert (for the time being).

“If you live in Linden and you lost your dog I found him in my bushes so drop me a message. In the meantime his name is Gilbert.”

Thabo made “Gilbert” feel right at home, and because he hadn’t found the owner yet, he invited the lost dog into his bed for the night. Thabo was incredibly hospitable to his new friend, even though “Gilbert” snored like a bear!

“Update, ya boy snores so please fetch him in the morning.”

Thabo met up with Kobus to return Stitch aka Gilbert the next day. He thanked everyone who helped him connect with Kobus. Thabo is probably the coolest rescuer ever and has warmed so many hearts with his kind actions.

Within 14 hours of finding Stitch, the pup was reunited with his dad.

“Found the owner, very nice man, thanks for the help everyone.”

The community who followed the story suggested that Kobus should let the pup have more sleep-overs with his new human friend, and we think that’s a GREAT idea!

People like Thabo make our hearts smile. We loved seeing his adventure with Stitch and know that many people will love this one too.
