Having heard the tale of a man in the North of Johannesburg paying for people’s meals, Mumtaz never imagined she would encounter this anonymous kindness!
Johannesburg, South Africa (06 July 2020) – These days we are filled with constant bad news, all the time; any hope of good news has become a ray of hope. During the last week, I was feeling despondent and down with the constant bad news, my spirits were lifted when I heard that there has been a young male in the North of Johannesburg that was paying it forward to random people at restaurants around the area.
Hearing good news lifted my spirit! Then I too had my encounter with this anonymous young man from the Norwood area. I was in a drive-through when I placed my order and as soon as it was placed and I proceeded to drive to pay. I was told that my order had been paid for in full and if I wished to add to my order I could do so.
I was in shock, just a few days ago I had read the story about the random act of kindness and here I was on the other end of it; a small act of kindness that made my week feel better. I said I silent prayer for the person, but I was not going to let this go. I had managed to have a chat with the young man who has wished to remain anonymous.
This young man said that we are in a time where a random act of kindness goes a long way and as long as he can, he will continue paying it forward.
“Many people have been out of work; we have no idea if this is the first time in months, they could afford a small treat for their family or their children. I pay randomly for a few people and wait for their orders to be placed and notify the staff how many people I will be paying for, each meal has an extra meal with the instructions that it should be given to someone in need and spread the cheer and the kindness.”
The random act of kindness has been going on since the opening of restaurants for take-away, and this young man hopes that his small random act of kindness will motivate people to add a little cheer when it is needed the most.
