With a sweet tooth and a big heart, Mckenzi set up a lemonade and brownie stand in her neighbourhood, convincing her community to support her cause. Her impressive fundraising efforts, totalling R3,030, helped provide fresh fruits and vegetables for many wild animals in need at CROW.

Durban, South Africa (07 January 2025) – We’re fans of all good things, and little hearts moved to big impacts are just some of our favourites!

Mckenzi Stainforth, a young student from Durban, stood out as a true philanthropist and advocate for wildlife by supporting a cause that is very close to her heart: the Centre for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW).

Determined to make a difference, Mckenzi rallied her family and community to help with her fundraising efforts. She sold boerewors rolls, brownies, and lemonade, raising an impressive R3,030—a significant amount that reflects her big heart!

In a conversation with Good Things Guy, CROW’s Fundraising and Marketing Manager, Denika Govender, shared that Mckenzi reached out to the rehabilitation centre with the hope of becoming a volunteer as part of her community service requirement for her Grade 7 year.

“Unfortunately, volunteers have to be 16 years and older to work at CROW due to the nature of our work, however, that did not stop Mckenzi as she set up and lemonade and brownie store in her neighbourhood to raise money for CROW.”

The non-profit organisation spends over R4,000 on just fruit and vegetables for wildlife in its care weekly.

“We are happy to share that the donation was used to purchase bananas, apples, butternut, blueberries, gem squash, broccoli and carrots to feed our wildlife patients,” Govender added.

Big ups to Mckenzi for her amazing efforts toward supporting an incredible organisation with an even greater cause.
