The Eyabantwana Trust is gearing up for a festive Christmas, collecting gifts for children who will spend the holidays in hospitals in the Eastern Cape.

South Africa (14 November 2024) – This holiday season, the Eyabantwana Trust is calling on the community to help bring the magic of Christmas to children undergoing surgery at Frere and Cecilia Makiwane Hospitals. Through its Christmas Gift Drop, the trust aims to collect toys, storybooks, and small gifts that will bring comfort, joy, and a touch of festive magic to young patients who must spend their holidays in Paediatric Surgical wards.

These small tokens of kindness – whether pre-loved or new – have a profound impact on children who are facing a difficult and sometimes lonely time. A simple gift can light up a child’s face, bring laughter, and create a precious moment of joy that reminds them they are not alone.

Why Your Support Matters

For children spending the festive season in a hospital bed, the holiday magic can feel distant. A small gift, like a cherished storybook or a beloved toy, can make an immense difference at Christmas, lifting their spirits and creating a moment of normalcy. Your contributions help to provide comfort, warmth, and a sense of wonder to children who need it most. This year, the trust aims to reach even more young patients with the support of compassionate members of the community.

How You Can Get Involved

  1. Donate Pre-Loved or New Gifts – Donate toys in good condition, storybooks, or small gifts suitable for a child. Collection boxes have been conveniently placed at partner offices around town, making it easy for anyone to participate. {Bike Yard, S Haynes & Associates Inc, Clark Laing Inc and Merryfield School}
  2. Spread the Word – Encourage your friends, family, and colleagues to join this heartwarming initiative! Every donation counts, and together, we can make a difference for more children. Share our mission on social media or tell someone about it.
  3. Make a Donation – The Eyabantwana Trust raises funds annually in order to purchase essential surgical equipment for the Paediatric Surgical wards at Cecilia Makiwane and Frere Hopsital – support our cause by making a donation – no matter how big or small, we make an impactful difference in childrens lives, one surgery at a time.
