Hillbrow

Thabang grew up on the streets of Hillbrow, but his life has been changed by two incredibly Good Samaritans who have opened a world of opportunity for him.

Johannesburg, South Africa – The streets of Hillbrow can be a very scary place and growing up there, even scarier. Thabang was one of those kids that tried to escape his life in Hillbrow by turning to drugs.

On this path, Thabang’s life would not have turned out well, but thankfully, he met someone who set him on a path to a better, more prosperous life. Emily Langa runs the Twilight Outreach and took Thabang under her wing to get him treatment. She wanted to give him a second chance and motivate him to do more with his life, and she succeeded.

The Angel Network shared Thabang’s story with us, and it will inspire you.

“With loving kindness, Thabang has turned his life around and we just wanted to help give him the hand up he so needs and deserves. Watch this space! He’s going places.” – The Angel Network

“Chatting to Thabang, it was evident that he has leadership qualities and a desire to follow his passion of teaching soccer to children.”

The Angel Network works to connect donors, mentors and more to people and organisations in need. Emily had shared Thabang’s story with the organisation, and they knew they needed to help. They called one of their contacts, Jono Leaf-Wright to see if he could offer assistance. The network credits Jono as a hero, role model and mentor for young adults needing guidance and a hand up.

“A phone call to Jono and the rest, as they say, is history. Emily and Thabang met Jono today and we are thrilled to announce that as of next week, Thabang will be employed as a soccer coach.” – The Angel Network

Jono helped Thabang’s biggest dream come true by offering to sponsor a Sports Management and Coaching course. The course is valued at R20,000.00.

“Thabang’s dream came true today. Jono offered him everything he wished for and needed. He is going to sponsor to have him skilled at a school to get a diploma in sports management and coaching” – Emily Langa

His transport will also be covered, and as an added perk, Emily appointed him as the supervisor for all the boys in Twilight Outreach’s care. To go with the appointment, he was gifted a cellphone with data to use.

“The boy just broke down crying when we went to the car overwhelmed. I was so emotional as well with all these offers. Jono is an amazing person. Thanks to you.” – Emily Langa

Emily and Jono changed Thabang’s life for the better, but none of it would have been possible without the Angel Network getting involved. If you would like to connect with the Network to see how you can get involved, you can do so here.
