Howard Warrington braved the icy waters of the Robben Island to Blouberg crossing yet again and completed his record-breaking 200 swims challenge, all while helping to raise over R162,000 for the SPCA!
Cape Town, South Africa (27 June 2024) — After many mighty swims, Howard Warrington has successfully completed his 200 swims challenge for the Cape of Good Hope SPCA—an ambitious series of treks over the infamously icy Robben Island to Blouberg crossing!
While Howard might be no stranger to the crossing—the swimmer had already done it countless times when he decided to dedicate the countdown to Swim 200 to the SPCA, and actually dedicated the first 100 swims to them too— it didn’t mean that the waters were any kinder (or warmer) on his way to the record-breaking swim.
Still, endurance may as well be Howard’s middle name at this point, because despite each bone-chilling plunge, he came back ready for another round, determined to help give the animals at the SPCA the essential funding boost they sorely need.
No fruitless labour, Howard’s 200 swim challenge has helped the Cape of Good Hope SPCA raise around R162,000, making a massive splash of hope in tandem with his World Record-breaking achievement that’s currently being processed.
And just when we thought Howard might take a break, the call was still on for the public to help get the funds to R200,000, something the champ swimmer was determined to achieve, so he even opted to swim the crossing again!
