Sometimes, the best medicine isn’t found in a hospital. It’s found in a day filled with laughter, friendship, and pure joy – and two brave girls got to enjoy all this during Dream Days catered just for them!
South Africa (13 April 2026) – Regardless of how long ago your teenage years were, we all remember that simple, driving desire to just have a good time. Recognising that every child deserves a chance to be carefree, the Reach for a Dream Foundation recently stepped in to create magical experiences for two very special girls – because, well, girls just want to have fun!
A quiet Indiphile Mtsatse from Queenstown in the Eastern Cape, who lives with Cerebellar Atrophy, was recently able to shift her focus away from her health challenges to immerse herself in the wonders of nature.
Her Dream Day took her on a game drive at Inkwenkwezi, where she slowly came out of her shell, taking in every moment around her. She got to marvel at lions, her favourite animal, which was a rare and special moment that brought her pure excitement.
Later, Indiphile was presented with her very own cell phone. It was a simple gift, yet one that meant so much, connecting her to her friends and the world she longed to be part of.
At another corner of the country, 16-year-old Lihle from Lamontville in KwaZulu-Natal lives with Rhabdomyosarcoma but carries a quiet strength that shines through in everything she does.
Her Dream Day was as girly as they get: to have a shopping experience! But what made the day truly meaningful was her wish to restore her confidence after losing her hair during chemotherapy.
At Gateway Theatre of Shopping, Lihle chose a beautiful wig with the support of a caring team, taking her time to find the one that felt just right.
When she saw herself after the hair installation, everything changed. Her smile grew, her posture lifted, and a new sense of confidence radiated from within. It was a powerful moment, not just of transformation, but of reclaiming a part of herself.
The day ended with a celebratory lunch, where Lihle shared her excitement to show her friends her new look, embracing the joy of feeling like herself again.
Though their dream days were wonderfully unique, both experiences celebrated two remarkable young girls whose courage and strength easily inspire everyone around them.
