Jamie Oliver made a trip to Cape Town and brought with him all the warmth and passion to inspire upcoming chefs part of a local upliftment programme!
Cape Town, South Africa (14 August 2024) — Foodie fanatics in Cape Town will be thrilled to know that there’s a legend in our midst and he’s wasted no time in sussing out the local culinary scene. Celebrity chef and the reason many of us know how to make the most of 5 Ingredients, Jamie Oliver, has been spotted out and about in Cape Town!
While Jamie, unfortunately, won’t be experiencing much difference to the UK’s general weather (Cape Town has been trapped in a cycle of gloomy days for weeks), we imagine that what he’s missed out in terms of summer days has been made up for with local culinary passions.
In a true testament to passionate pursuits, one spot Jamie visited was the local Test Kitchen Fledglings (TTKF)—an upliftment program married to fine dining that empowers people by teaching them how to cook—an apt visit for the star chef who once said:
“I don’t want flashy restaurants, I want food that has soul and heart, expresses artisan skills and uses local produce.”
At TTKF he delighted a variety of cooks with his presence, passion and time, leaving behind a very happy kitchen.

While we’re not sure where a Cape Town culinary journey will take Jamie next (though we’d love to see Jamie try a Cape-famous gatsby), we’re sure he’ll get his fill of good food, great people and if he’s very lucky, better weather.
