Lolla Mokoena is a sports star on the horizon! She will do South Africa proud at the next Olympics, that is her goal and she is going to make it happen.
Lolla Mokoena comes from Secunda and is a talented 15 year old student at Secunda High School. Lolla trains six days a week for three hours a day. She enjoys the short hurdles but also takes part in the 100m and 200m and also participated in the 400m hurdles.
On the 10th of February 2016 Lolla broke the record for the 300m hurdle in the ladies under 15 race at the University of Johannesburg for Nationals. Her next goal is to run at the Olympics, a goal which her sponsor Jason English says he will do anything to help with.
“She is the current SA record holder for her age group and her dream is to run the Olympics… I will make that happen!”
In December the CEO of Prommac and Lolla’s sponsor Jason English sent her to Jamaica to run at the Usain Bolt Training Academy. Only athletes who impress the Bolt team are accepted to the Training Academy. Lolla was accepted into the training camp because of her excellent race results.
Lolla Mokoena has a bright future ahead of her! With the support of her mentor and the country she will go far! Prommac has committed to supporting her all the way to the 2020 Olympics. She has also received some amazing offers to further her studies once she leaves high school.
“She has now been scouted and offered over 30 scholarships by US universities and this is a emotional realisation for me that we can really make a difference in the lives of people one step at a time. It’s just a beautiful story and I am over the moon for her.”
