Samantha Nyikadzino is one of several SADC residents who has now joined team Mercedes in engineering roles; we are so proud to celebrate her success!

United Kingdom (15 September 2022) – Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team has been expanding their team to include an internationally diverse group of people. They have been drawing talent from Africa, including South Africa and neighbouring Zimbabwe.

Earlier this year, we celebrated the hiring of South African Shau Mafuna who joined the team as a Mechanical Engineer at the Mercedes AMG High-Performance Powertrains, and today we celebrate the hiring of Zimbabwean-born, South African trained Samantha Nyikadzino, who has joined the team as an Electronics Design Engineer for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team.

Samantha Nyikadzino completed her studies as an Electrical Engineer at the Zimbabwe National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Bulawayo. From there, she travelled to South Africa, where she then completed the South African equivalent in Electrical engineering at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. She just recently completed a third degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of South Africa.

The inspiring 26-year-old started her new job on the 12th of September and is very excited about the opportunity, saying she was “geeked”. She credits herself as an avid Star Wars fan, Disney song enthusiast and occasionally cracks the odd dad joke.

On her first day of work, she comically quoted Eminem’s famous song “Lose Yourself” from 8 Mile, about choking in the moment, but we have no doubt that Samantha nailed her first day.
