Anne Barkhuizen lost her phone at her local shopping mall; she was blown away by the kindness and effort everyone put in to help her find it again.
Pietermaritzburg, South Africa – Anne Barkhuizen lost her phone while at the Liberty Mall in Pietermaritzburg. She called the last place she remembered having it. The manager at the Woolworths Cafe went to check for her phone; sadly she couldn’t find it. The manager went out of her way to assist Anne and even went to report the phone missing at the centre management.
“So I lost my cell phone (old age or post op syndrome- you decide). Frantically phoned places I had been to. One being Woolworths coffee shop at Liberty Mall. To cut a long story short. I would like to honour Woolworths Coffee shop manager- I think her name is Tanya – for personally going to the liberty mall security office to report my phone missing as it wasnt in the coffee shop and gave them Wayne’s number to contact if my phone was found.”
While the manager was reporting the phone missing, Anne’s friend was calling it to see if someone would pick up. Senzo, a security guard at the mall didn’t hear it ring but saw the phone on the floor of the parking lot. He picked it up and went to the centre management to hand it in.
Anne’s friend called again, and this time, the centre management answered, letting her know the phone was found and safe.
“Secondly Senzo the security guard found it in the car park and handed it in at their office. Thanks liberty mall and Senzo for your honesty and my friend Marie who phoned my number and found that they had it. I love my beloved country.”
Anne went to collect is and met up with Senzo to say thank you for handing it in. She celebrated her love for South Africa and even handed Senzo a small reward for his honesty and efforts.
And with that, we have another happy ending in South Africa.
