Kyle Burns, a rescue swimmer for the NSRI is being hailed a hero for helping rescue a stranded dog from the rising tide in Gordon’s Bay.
Gordon’s Bay, South Africa (23 July 2020) – The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) is famous for its heroic rescues of swimmers, fishermen and the likes but a recent story really filled our hearts with warmth.
Kyle Burns is not only a hero to people but also to animals. Kyle is a rescue swimmer with the Gordon’s Bay NSRI and was able to save a dog trapped by rising tides. According to the team, they could see the dog was too scared to jump into the water to swim back to safety.
“The dog was a male mixed breed dog that became trapped on a rock about 30 meters off-shore by the rising tide. The dog was sitting on the rock appearing to be too afraid to jump into the water to swim to the shore.
The rescued dog has been taken into the care of Gordon’s Bay Animal Welfare. Kyle visited the dog on Thursday to check on him — we have shared some photos of the reunion.”
After the rescue, Kyle went to visit the dog and it was clear the dog was happy to see his rescuer. The animal welfare organisation are now calling the dog Kyle in honour of his rescuer.
What a lovely happy ending!
