Kindness South African Traffic

A woman by the name of Martha had her own run-in with a random act of kindness recently and it left her in tears; renewing her faith in humanity.

Stellenbosch, South Africa (24 August 2020) – Martha, an older woman with a case of nerves about heading into general public, found herself in a predicament at the traffic department but had her faith in humanity restored.

She was due to renew her licence and not wanting to let it lapse too long, she worked up her courage and went to her local traffic department. She was expecting the usual long lines but was pleasantly surprised and found the entire experience efficient and helpful.

The problem came when it was time for Martha to pay. She pulled out her purse and her card wasn’t in its usual place. Her heart sank and she started looking in every part of her handbag. Still nothing. Martha was filled with dread but thankfully the traffic department said she could eft the money, it would just take a while to set up on their side. Martha was about to concede and accept the longer wait but a man behind her spoke up.

“The gentleman behind me offered to pay for me. I was so taken aback and thought I cannot accept such a thing. He insisted. Paid for me. When I ask for his details he just gave me a first name and telephone number.

I was so taken aback by such kindness because he had no guarantee that I would pay him back. When I got back in my car, I phoned my daughter, but was crying so much, she thought I was in an accident.

To this kind gentleman, I want to thank you again for your kindness to an old lady. May your life be filled with kindness.”

Martha went into the traffic department nervous of the new world and left having her faith in humanity restored. There are many stories just like Martha’s. We have seen some of the very best people shine brightly during the global pandemic.
