Community organisation Revive Knysna recently equipped parking attendants with bright new bibs  showcasing their names to help contribute to the Safer Spaces Project that’s bettering the town!

Knysna, South Africa (13 September 2024) — Community organisation Revive Knysna might be known for their impactful eco-efforts, but they are also standing true to the ‘Revive’ part of their name in other socially impactful ways, like kitting out parking attendants with new bibs!

Recently, the Revive Knysna team contributed to the Safer Spaces Project by making sure that many of the town’s parking attendants (of which there are around 50) got to enjoy a fresh upgrade on their bibs.

“Bright red and easily recognisable with their names on, and officially registered with Municipal Law Enforcement after being screened by the SAPS, members of the public can be assured that the Safer spaces Red Bib parking attendants have been encouraged to create a friendly, safe environment for residents and visitors alike,” Revive Knysna shared.

The parking attendants team received their bibs from facilitator Cheryl Britz of the Kynsna Community Police Forum in addition to Revive Knysna team members.

More than simply the champions who keep our minds at ease after we’ve parked, the parking attendants that are part of the programme are also a beacon of hope due to its nature as a ‘job creation scheme’.

Additionally, the new bibs help distinguish this team from illegal car guards, ultimately helping legitimise the task force.

About Revive Knysna

The organisation is a non-profit community made up of volunteers who dedicate their time to being active citizens, uplifting Knysna and paving its future. From creating gardens and green spaces to tackling clean-ups and restoring heritage buildings, the movement began when two friends, Gail Sofianos and Paula Wishart, decided it was time to protect the estuary—Knysna’s life force.

Two years later, the organisation is now registered as a non-profit and boasts around 20 volunteers! They have completed over 25 projects for the betterment of the community and even have 6 staff members. Not to mention, they’ve welcomed other local communities to join in on their momentum, with other ‘Revives’ popping up in places like Sedgefield and Brenton.
