Stormers’ players, firefighters and Spiderman took to surprise kids fighting for their tomorrows in the most heartwarming ways.

South Africa (01 June, 2023)—Some heroes wear boots, some wear Spiderman suits and others rock rugby kits. In the case of many kids, an encounter with their role models can be a life-changing matter, inspiring them through their own challenges and circumstances.

Recently, all three hero-types took to surprise children fighting for their tomorrows’ thanks to the Reach For A Dream Foundation.

Reach For a Dream, a leading non-profit that helps children fighting serious diseases have their Dream Days, was behind the effort that brought joy to the young boys as well as a few other surprises.

Stormers get to meet 12-year-old Dimitri

Dimitri, a 12-year-old rugby fan battling leukaemia, was unable to leave the hospital on his Dream Day earlier this month. But, because disappointment simply wasn’t welcome on that special day, a surprise plan sprung into action.

If Dimitri couldn’t go to the rugby, the rugby would come to him! Soon, three rugby champs from the Stormers were en-route to pay him a visit.

”The players inspired Dimitri with their words of encouragement and gave him hope by promising him a spot on the team once he recovers.”—RFAD.

While they couldn’t kick any balls around, another competition still went down via a game on Dimitri’s new tablet (another gift from the Dream Day). There, Sacha and Dimitri went toe-to-toe to see who the Subway Surfer champ really was—a moment of pure joy.

”This experience proved to be a much-needed distraction from his harsh reality and lifted his spirits. The Stormers players’ kindness and Dimitri’s excitement about his new gadget will be treasured memories that he will carry for years to come.,” RFAD shared.

Firefighters Get to Meet Rayden

Six-year-old Rayden who is currently experiencing treatment for chronic kidney disease, is described as a courageous little guy. So, it only made sense that he would want to be one of the most courageous real-life heroes around—a firefighter.

Kitting him out with an all-important necessity for heroes on-the-go, Rayden got a brand new bicycle(a hero needs transport!) before his second big surprise of the day.

Rayden and his family were invited to their local fire station where the little one got to meet his heroes, followed by an ice-cream date. Here, Rayden decided with joy that this was the “best day he has ever had.”

Spiderman Got to Meet Blake

Blake who’s just 5 years old is a massive little fan of Spiderman—bedding, figurines floats, you name it. If it’s Blakes, Spiderman is there somewhere.

Taking cues from the comics’ ‘The Kid Who Collects Spiderman’, Spidey dropped in on Blake who was well over the moon.

The shy boy was said to have been left speechless, expressing his happiness through a hug with his hero. And, to kickstart his own Spiderverse journey, Spiderman gifted Blake his own superhero certificate and a little web spray.

Blake also got another surprise second to Spiderman, a new Play Station.

All in a Dream Day’s Work, Reach for a Dream continues to keep the human spirit thriving and fighting, inspiring hope in the youngsters to help them continue believing that tomorrow is worth fighting for.
