Oscar Buthelezi is an award-winning dancer and choreographer from Vosloorus who has been invited to Germany to compete against the best in the world.
South Africa – Oscar Buthelezi, a 27-year-old choreographer, is a talent of epic proportions. Oscar is an international and local award-winning choreographer working with the ‘Moving into Dance Professional Company’. He has been selected from dozens of applicants from across the world to compete in Germany.
As recently as this week, Oscar was awarded a Naledi Theatre Award for Best Choreography in a Play/Musical category for The Color Purple. In 2016, he became the first African to win the Kurt Joos International Award for choreography in Essen, Germany.
To get to the 33rd International Competition for Choreographers in Hanover, Germany from 21-23 June 2019 he needs urgent financial support to compete. He is one of the nineteen finalists who have been invited to the competition.
Oscar needs to raise R 60 000-00 for air tickets and visas for four people. He has already managed to raise funds to cover all other costs. He now has just one week for his dream to become a reality. Eugenie Drakes set up a BackaBuddy for him in the hopes to help Oscar get to Germany.
“Please support Oscar to take up this challenge and bring the award home. Experiences like this will grow and develop Oscar’s unique talent and enable him to showcase South African talent.”
Eugenie has already raised R8,365.56 towards the goal and hopes that if more people hear Oscar’s story, they too will help make his dream come true. If you would like to assist Oscar, you can do so here.
