Toni Enderli has been swimming the ‘Oceans 7’ to raise funds for NSRI drowning prevention, he is the first South African to take up the challenge.
Oceans 7 is the challenge of long distance swimming across seven open bodies of water. It includes the North Channel, the Cook Strait, the Molokai Channel, the English Channel, the Catalina Channel, the Tsugaru Strait and the Strait of Gibraltar.
Toni Enderli is hoping to be the 7th person to complete the Oceans 7. He is raising funds to go towards the NSRI drowning prevention
“I have completed two of the seven challenges (the 34km English Channel and the 12.5km Strait of Gibraltar) wearing only a Speedo costume, cap and goggles and I aim to be the first South African to complete all seven gruelling swims.”
Toni completed the Molokai Channel yesterday, the 3rd September 2017. Meaning he has four channels left to swim. He has been sharing his inspirational journey on his Facebook page.
‘My challenge is driven by my passion for life and my desire to give back: “I believe in unleashing the mind’s potential, constantly pushing boundaries to achieve dreams and helping make a difference by giving back to those in need.”
Toni has raised R29,000.00 so far, with the final goal being R250,000.00. The money will be going to the WaterWise Academy, a campaign funded by the NSRI that teaches underprivileged children how to prevent drowning. You can donate here.
“Our WaterWise Academy Instructors prevent drowning tragedies through education. We teach children how to avoid danger in or near water, what to do in an emergency, who to call for help, how to do peer rescue and Hands On CPR. The interactive presentation is given on school premises at no charge.” – NSRI
We wish Toni the best of luck on the next phase in his challenge. We will keep you updated on his progress and let you know as soon as he has finished.
