The Sophie A Kanza foundation is hosting a Jumble Sale to raise money for the Christway Safe Haven for children. The money will be used to buy much needed groceries!
The Sophie A Kanza Foundation is hosting a jumble sale to benefit Christway center using the funds raised to help with their groceries.
Elize Baker converted her home into a safe haven for the kids in the community. She runs a no-fee day care, aftercare and tutoring centre. She caters for up to 60 children a day. At her safe haven she has 19 children that live there permanently.
Many of the children that end up at Christway have been abandoned on Elize’s door step or have been found within the community and brought to her by the community members.
Above and beyond her care projects for the children she also runs a soup kitchen for the community. She relies fully on donations and the generosity of others to keep the center open.
The Sophie A Kanza Foundation is hosting the jumble sale on the 4th of March 2017, you can see the event here. The sale gives the community a chance to give back to the center that helps them out so much.
“The community uses this opportunity as a way of giving back to Christway and getting items that they normally wouldn’t be able to afford. The items are sold at prices between R2 – R15.”
They are looking for donations of Clothing (All ages, sizes, males and females), Kitchenware, Bedding, Clean Toys and Bric-a-brac. The foundation is also looking for any volunteers that would be willing to help out on the day.
