Potchefstroom High School for Boys understands that harvests taste the best when they’re shared! Recently, one of the school’s clubs gifted fresh veggies from the school garden to children’s charities:
Potchefstroom, South Africa (09 January 2025) — The Abraham Kriel Children’s Home and the Thakeng Child and Youth Care Centre were recently treated to a special surprise of fresh vegetables thanks to Potchefstroom High School for Boys’ school garden.
A harvest tastes its best when it’s shared. With this in mind, the school’s Interact Club decided that the best places for the veggies to head off to would be those that rely immensely on the notion of sharing.
The Abraham Kriel Children’s Home cares for children and young people referred to them by the children’s court and provides them with a safe environment, food and professional care.
The Thakeng Child and Youth Care Centre (The Thakeng Project) is a shelter for young boys from the age of 7 to 19 who have had no choice but to flee trying circumstances in their home lives.
The veggie gifts weren’t just an offering of resource support. They also taught a lesson about growth for high schoolers.
Like seeds that become vegetables worth sharing, individual growth matters most when we use what we’ve worked on to help others.
Meanwhile in other news where fresh produce ignited smiles, women who were supported by the Funda Nenja food gardens recently returned the favour by gifting the organisation that helped them grow their own food with an abundance of their fresh produce!
