This year’s Toy Run Cape Town saw over 12,000 toys collected in a massive effort to make the festive season that much more joyful for underprivileged young people:

Cape Town, South Africa (17 December 2024) — The toy count is complete, and the results from the 2024 Toy Run Cape Town are officially in!

This year, Toy Run Cape Town rallied motorheads, champions of child welfare and even firefighters who pulled up with a truck full of toys for one of the most important days on the calendar for youth-focused charities.

For those who are behind the lap, The Toy Run is an occasion of community where bikers and other supporters unite. Here, attendees bring toys that will head to various charities in exchange for a day out on the raceway. Beginning in 1982 with a humble number of participants, today Toy Runs across Southern Africa have brought over 75,000 participants together for the cause.

For the 2024 Cape Town edition, The Toy Run organisation shared that 12,512 toys were handed out this year. While the numbers weren’t exactly on target (largely because a lot of people brought smaller toys that were then grouped together in lucky packets), the impact is still extraordinary and all the more reason for more contributions next year.

Different organisations have already shared their gratitude. The Pebbles Project (who recently released a fantastic short film, ‘Kindness‘) shared big love for all the soft toys that will make their centres brighter. Woman of Action expressed immense gratitude for their goodies, and Christel House kids performed the happiest appreciation song that we just couldn’t help but share.

Everyone who shared a gift raced in solidarity with child welfare and sorted the toys deserves a huge round of applause. After all, a small act of kindness from one adult can mean the absolute world to a child.
