Every year, the Toy Run gets ready to welcome motorcyclists (and their donated toys) in abundance as part of a massive effort to share joy and gifts with young people who need it most.

Cape Town, South Africa (20 November 2024) — It’s almost time for the most special date on motorheads’ calendars as the 2024 Toy Run rapidly approaches!

An occasion of community, epic bikes and a wealth of support for youth in need, the Toy Run has grown marvellously since its humble beginnings in 1982 to the point where over 75,000 motorcyclists have participated annually across Southern Africa!

What is the Toy Run?

Thanks to 42 years of dedication and making a difference, the Toy Run event has become a highly anticipated event for charities and bikers alike.

Simply put, the Toy Run (an NPO itself) offers a way for a niche community (motorheads) to enjoy a day out with their bikes, friends and fellow enthusiasts all while making a difference for young people who need a little joy. Toy Runs happen in different parts of Southern Africa, typically toward the end of November to curate lots of gifts and goodies for young people to receive over the festive period.

Entrance to the event is granted via a toy donation which will shortly thereafter find its way to a young person in either a safe home, hospital or orphanage.

The 2024 Toy Run Cape Town

One of the largest local runs, the Cape Town edition of the Toy Run is set to take place on 24 November at the Killarney International Raceway.

Everyone is invited to attend, even if you aren’t able to ride! People are welcome to pull through simply for the gees of it all (there will be music, drinks and food to indulge in) so long as your donations accompany you.

Importantly, the organisers have requested that those donating don’t forget about teenagers. Gifts like books, games, puzzles, and toiletries are all on the wish list.

In terms of toys to donate, these can be preloved, provided that they are in good condition (i.e. something you’d want your child to receive).

The event works to serve multiple organisations as they have done for years, and we can’t wait to report on all those who were positively impacted after the event.

Those looking to join in on all the goodness can find out more here.
