Two truck drivers spent yesterday afternoon pulling strangers from their cars during the flood, giving CPR and saving lives!

Torrential rains caused massive havoc on Wednesday afternoon in and around Johannesburg with cars submerged on several city roads and highways‚ prompting widespread traffic gridlock. Flights out of OR Tambo International Airport were also delayed due to the bad weather.

During the flash floods many cars were submerged with people trapped inside of them.

Two brave truck drivers who were caught in the gridlocked traffic saw strangers sinking with their cars and jumped right in to help.

“South Africa long distance Truckers” first shared the post which quickly gained momentum and shares on social media.

“This brave trucker rescued a woman from her car in yesterday’s flash floods in joburg… he pulled her out of the car which was submerged in water and put her on the back of the trailer and started doing CPR but it was too late….. He deserves a million likes…. He definitively is our hero!”

The truck drivers also pulled her son out of the car, who is currently recovering at the Roseacres Hospital.

The truck drivers did not stop though, and went on to help over 20 people out of their cars and into safety.

The drivers that assisted are our drivers Lucas and Vuyani. A lady phoned me last night saying that they pulled 20 people to safety using the belts on the trailer. Very very proud of them. – DPMM Logistics

Our thoughts and prayers with all affected by the floods yesterday. Thank you to Lucas and Vuyani for being so heroic.
