Life just got twice as sweet for one Durban family, as they grew their family of five to a party of seven, welcoming home a pair of twins who have finally found where they belong.

Durban, South Africa (19 January 2026) – “Two Times Ten Tiny Toes” – may sound like an alliteration nerd’s delight, but it also describes the double blessing for a Durban family of five little ones.

Shortly before the 2025 Festive Season, two small residents at The Domino Foundation’s Babies’ Home officially made their transition to their “forever family”, making it a quartet of sons and one little girl for their new mum and dad.

The diminutive duo had arrived at the Babies’ Home five months earlier. The family heard of them and made the decision to meet the brace of brothers.

According to the Foundation, the mutual getting-acquainted sessions followed, and the family very soon needed no persuasion to take the formal steps.

Precious Thabethe, a Crisis Mom at the Home, explained that the Department of Social Development’s matching and vetting processes are rigorous. She noted that personnel were, as always, meticulous in ensuring the twins and their new family share a firm foundation for their future together. Precious added that numerous criteria must be met, as the well-being of the children is of paramount importance.

One of the twins’ new older siblings was very enthusiastic about his role as big brother to the pair:

“I can’t wait for them to grow up a bit so that I can teach them soccer,” he said excitedly.

With her older offspring starting the new school year, Mum commented:

“What wonderful gifts we have been given…the best Christmas presents to really brighten the whole year ahead for us all!!”

The pair are the second set of twins to leave the Babies’ Home in the space of a few months. The other set of identical twins spent a year with Precious and her team of carers before being adopted. Between them, the four bring the total of babies and toddlers either adopted or reunited with their biological families over the past 21 years to 186.

We wish these tiny tots and their new family endless happy days!
