Kleinmond, South Africa (28 August 2023) – Grant Synders, the regional sales manager for Engage, was left in awe when he received an email from an elderly couple showering two of the company’s employees with thanks and praise. Rassie and Louna Erasmus reached out to thank two of Engage’s employees for their selfless act in helping the couple with a burst tyre.

Mr Erasmus shared that he and his wife Louna were travelling from their home in Kleinmond to Hermanus for a dental appointment. Their trip was completely stalled when they experienced a burst tyre and were left stranded on the roadside.

Both Rassie and Louna have been through very recent surgeries and this left them unable to physically change the tyre themselves.

In the email they shared with Grant, they explained that the weather was also about to turn but then, much to their sheer delight, two of Engage’s employees pulled over to lend a helping hand. Field Marketer Lwazi Rotwana and his Merchandiser, Bernad Mpesi became the couple’s saviours.

“There was a gale-force wind blowing and a threat of heavy rain. We were in real discomfort as one regularly read and hear the news of people who are robbed and attacked when they are left stranded along the road.

A vehicle stopped and Lwazi and Bernard came to our assistance. Despite the unpleasant weather, they were very polite and prepared to help us. They were very professional and knew exactly how to operate the tools and mechanics to replace the burst tyre and set us on the road again. They escorted us for the rest of the trip to Hermanus!

We want to convey a big word of thanks to these two gentlemen who came as if they were sent to come to our rescue. Your company can take pride in them.

In a country riddled with sometimes unpleasant racial issues, they were the perfect example of looking out for their fellow citizens and for nation-building.” – Rassie and Louna Erasmus

The email, filled with praise, was sent around the company. Everyone was so impressed and the entire company and all suppliers will get to read the story as they are placing the email in the company newsletter too.

These wholesome stories really give South Africans faith and inspire more people to act with kindness.
