He lost his parents and some of his closest friends. Instead of writing a farewell, Adam Boyd wrote a thank you.
South Africa (23 July 2026) – South African-born singer-songwriter and former Wake to Wonder frontman Adam Boyd, now based in the United Kingdom, has released his new single ‘Hallelujah’. It is the most personal song he’s ever put his name to.
Boyd has built his career on songs that feel like they were lived before they were written, and ‘Hallelujah’ is no exception. It draws directly from the loss of his parents and close friends, the people who shaped both his life and his music. But rather than dwell in sorrow, Boyd chose to write something closer to a celebration, a song about everything that loss leaves behind – memories, wisdom, love, and legacy.
The song invites its listeners to look back on the people we’ve lost with gratitude rather than grief alone, and to raise a glass to who they were and what they gave us.

The music video weaves together the people and moments that inspired the single into a visual tribute to memory and legacy. Even the single’s artwork carries meaning, featuring a photograph of Boyd’s father as a young man, the man who first put music in his son’s hands and set his entire songwriting journey in motion.
Anyone who has lost someone they love will likely recognise the feeling that the people we’ve lost still find ways to guide us, inspire us and quietly remain part of our everyday lives.
‘Hallelujah’ is out now. If you have lost someone and chosen, in spite of it, to keep celebrating the life that person lived, this one is especially for you.
Watch the video and give it a listen!
