Both Netball captain Bongiwe Msomi and Para swimmer Christian Sadie are deeply honoured to carry the South African flag at tomorrow’s Commonwealth Games opening.
South Africa (27 July 2022) – And just like that, we are one sleep away from the opening of the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. We have spent the week leading up to the event listing all the South African athletes at the games. Now, we would like to celebrate two of them, who will be carrying our flags along the opening procession of the event.
Netball South Africa team captain Bongiwe Msomi and Para swimmer Christian Sadie have been chosen to carry the South African National flag during the opening of the games tomorrow.
“Extremely proud and completely overwhelmed by the honour of being the flag bearer at the Commonwealth Games 2022. Such a privilege having Bongiwe Msomi next to me. I promise to make my country proud and to be the light for our Nation. Thank you Team South Africa for this wonderful opportunity” – Christian Sadie
The opening ceremony takes place on the 28th of July 2022 at Alexander Stadium. South Africans will be able to watch the event on SuperSport tomorrow evening from 20:30 pm for the buildup with the event starting at 21:00 CAT.
