A dream years in the making is about to take Shannon Benting from Johannesburg to Poland, where she will compete against some of the world’s most accomplished women at Miss Supranational 2026.
Johannesburg, South Africa (08 June 2026) – A passport, a purpose and a South African flag. Next month, Shannon Benting will step onto an international stage in Poland as Miss Supranational South Africa 2026, carrying with her a dream realised and a message she hopes young women across the country will hear loud and clear: where you come from should never determine where you can go.
The Gauteng-born model and content creator has officially been named Miss Supranational South Africa 2026 by African Beauty International and will represent the country at the prestigious international pageant on 31 July in Nowy Sącz, Poland.
While international pageants are often associated with glamour and competition, Shannon’s story is rooted in something far more meaningful. It is a story about purpose and creating opportunities for others.
At 30 years old, Shannon has already built a platform focused on empowering women and helping young people access opportunities that might otherwise feel out of reach. Through her initiative, Beauty in Action, she works to connect underserved youth with mentorship, skills development and community outreach programmes. It is a cause driven by a belief that feels particularly relevant in South Africa: talent can be found everywhere but opportunity is not always equally distributed.

Her own journey reflects that philosophy. Grounded in a rich multicultural heritage, Shannon proudly embraces her South African Coloured roots alongside Chinese ancestry through both sides of her family. She speaks openly about the importance of celebrating diversity, family and unity, values that have shaped both her personal life and the work she hopes to continue through her growing platform.
“Representing South Africa at Miss Supranational 2026 is a moment I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I have worked hard, dreamed big and stayed grounded in my purpose, and this feels like confirmation that showing up with authenticity and intention truly matters. I do not take this responsibility lightly. I am walking onto that stage in Poland not just for myself, but for every young woman in South Africa who has been told that where she comes from is a limitation rather than a launching pad. I want her to see me and believe that it is possible for her too,” she says.
Her appointment was announced alongside the unveiling of the Miss African Beauty South Africa 2026 Top 20, an impressive group of women representing communities across the country and a remarkable range of professions. Among the finalists are women working in civil engineering, law, audiology, cancer biology, drama therapy and digital marketing, highlighting just how much modern pageantry has evolved into a celebration of ambition and impact.
Bokang Montjane-Tshabalala, CEO of African Beauty International, national director of Miss Supranational South Africa and a former Miss South Africa herself, believes Shannon embodies the qualities needed to represent the nation on the world stage.
“Shannon stood out not simply for her beauty – though that is undeniable – but for the unshakeable clarity she has about who she is and what she wants to do with her platform. She has a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life, which speaks directly to her multicultural heritage and her life experience. On an international stage, that quality is rare and immensely powerful. Shannon understands that this title is not about a crown; it is about the doors it opens and the lives that can be changed as a result. That is exactly the spirit Miss African Beauty South Africa was built to amplify, and I have every confidence she will make this country incredibly proud in Poland.”
That sentiment may be the most important part of this story.
For Shannon, Poland is not simply a destination. It is an opportunity to showcase the values she believes in, the community she represents and the young people she hopes to inspire. Every step onto that international stage will be backed by years of hard work and a desire to create meaningful change.
