Ashton has been with the Irwin Animal Rescue Centre NPC in Walkerville for the last ten years, the rescue centre has to close, and now they are looking to rehome their pups.
Walkerville, Johannesburg – The Irwin Animal Rescue Centre NPC was notified that their property is being sold and they were given 30 days notice to vacate the property, meaning they have 30 days to find homes for all their long-term senior residents.
One of those grey snouts is Ashton, who has been with the rescue centre his entire life. They are doing everything in their power to rehome the sweet dog and find him a family that will love him as hard as they have over the last ten years.
“Most of these dogs have never had a home and have been at the shelter their entire life. We really need everyone’s help to give this special boy a miracle of a forever home urgently. He needs a loving family who will help restore his confidence and faith in humanity and show him what it means to be loved.”
Ashton has always been overlooked, so the rescue centre decided to highlight some of his sweetest qualities in the hopes that he finds his perfect match in a human. According to the rescue centre, he is a timid dog and holds back his personality until he feels safe. He just lacks a little confidence at the moment but has so much potential given a chance.
“He is social with other dogs. He must find a home with someone who has had dogs before and has some experience with them as he is very shy and can become overwhelmed easily with strangers or too much happening around him and react out of fear. He’s not aggressive at all it’s only fear so he needs someone who will take it slow and easy with him, be gentle and kind and let him get used to things at his own pace.”
“He was nervous at first with us but once he saw we weren’t going to hurt him and he was getting treats he quickly warmed up. His ideal home would be one where his new mom is a homebody and around most weekends, evenings and days if possible. A quiet home with not too much traffic in and out of the house. No kids. Can be with other dogs. We are not sure about cats. But above all just someone who will love and adore him and make however much time he has left the best years of his life.”
