An overwhelming response from South Africans has left Baby M well cared for, allowing extra donations to be shared with other vulnerable children this Mandela Day.

Pretoria, South Africa (12 July 2026) – Baby M’s donation drive has been so successful that organisers are now sharing the love with other children in need.

After receiving an overwhelming response from South Africans determined to help Baby M, the Heart of Stella Foundation and KidsCare say they have been blessed with more donations than the little one currently needs.

Stacks of nappies, blankets, clothing, shoes, toys, food, bedding and other essential items have poured in from generous members of the public, filling tables and bags with supplies for the baby.

With Baby M’s immediate needs now well supported, the organisations have decided to pay the kindness forward by distributing surplus donations to other vulnerable babies and children in their care network, with the next phase of the campaign forming part of their Mandela Day initiative.

The organisations say every donation is carefully managed to ensure it reaches the children who need it most.

While Baby M remains the priority, any excess items are redirected to other verified families, allowing the generosity of donors to stretch even further.

They also believe very little should ever go to waste. Clothing, bedding and fabric that can no longer be used as intended are often repurposed by community groups into quilts, blankets, soft toys or new garments for children in need. Only items that are beyond repair or unsafe for use are discarded.

The organisations have thanked South Africans for embracing Baby M’s story and responding with such compassion, saying the incredible support has made it possible to help even more children than originally expected.

As the Mandela Day campaign continues, they are encouraging the public to keep donating, knowing that every contribution will find a home where it is needed most.
