Twelve women are trading their daily routines for a 2,141km relay across South Africa – proving that while their lives may be “ordinary”, their strides are changing the future for a nation’s vulnerable children.
Pretoria, South Africa (03 February 2026) – A group of 12 “ordinary” South African women is about to do a truly extraordinary thing! This month, they will be running from Musina Beitbridge to Cape Agulhas in relay format, covering 2,141km in just nine days. Every step they take will be a step of hope and light across South Africa, for vulnerable children and their futures!
Known as the Cape2Care endurance charity event, their mission aims to raise awareness and funds for Dynamic Women for Children (DWFC), a non-profit that provides holistic support to underprivileged children across South Africa.
DWFC believes that the children of today shape the future of tomorrow, and works to uplift impoverished and vulnerable children from their current circumstances by providing them with the essential education they need, in a safe environment, to make better choices for the future. The organisation also provides vital life skills and offers professional counselling through medical institutions and individuals to help them address past hurts.
The determined runners will be championing this vital cause. With their trek commencing on 25 February, there are just a few days to go now before these women start their world record attempt and run across South Africa with one mission: to give children a safer, brighter future.
“For the past three years, we’ve walked from Pretoria to Cape Town, over 1,400 km in just three weeks to raise awareness and funds for Dynamic Women for Children (DWFC),” the group shares online.
“We walk for the children who have been failed. Failed by their circumstances, failed by the adults meant to protect them, failed by broken systems and empty promises. We are so ready to set a world record. Ready to inspire. Ready to run for hope!”
Every contribution helps provide vulnerable children with the genuine, ongoing support they need to break free from chains they don’t deserve and step into the bright future they do.
