One of Cape Town’s most beloved fundraising events will once again take place on Table Mountain this May, and pledges have already surpassed the halfway mark at over half a million rand!
Cape Town, South Africa (07 April 2025) — The Cableway Charity Challenge 2025 is only a handful of weeks away, and the event will transform Table Mountain into a springboard for hope, change, and positive impact once again.
On the day of the Cableway Charity Challenge, individual athletes, schools and corporate teams will hike Platteklip Gorge as many times as humanely possible, between sunrise and sunset, to raise funds for four beneficiaries: Ubuntu Football, Funda Kunye, Volunteer Wildfire Services (VWS) and Wilderness Search and Rescue (WSAR).
In fantastic news, the pledges have already surpassed the halfway point of the overall target (R1 million) with R519,389 pledges in already!
As runners and hikers prepare for Race Day on 10 May, the public is invited to cheer them on, lend support and donate what they can—even if it’s just positive energy on the day.
“We invite all South Africans to rally behind the participants, encouraging them to push their limits to maximise the impact for our chosen charities,” hosts and organisers, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway team share.
About the Cableway Charity Challenge
Since its inception in 2009, the Challenge has raised millions for local charities. Last year, participants shot the lights out, surpassing the target fundraising goal by raising over R1 million.
“The Cableway Charity Challenge is a highlight on the city’s trail running calendar. We are proud to host this incredible initiative.” says Selma Hercules, Executive Director at TMACC.
“It is inspiring to see participants push themselves for a good cause, and we encourage the public to join us in cheering them on. Once again, we are excited to have our teams taking part in the corporate challenge, as we do each year, showing our commitment not just as hosts, but as active participants in making a difference.”
