First the Roland Garros Grand Slam champion title and now second title earned at the US Open by proudly South African tennis star Kgothatso Montjane.
United States (12 September 2023) – Kgothatso Montjane is flying the South African flag around the world. She has been playing tennis at some of the most prestigious sporting events and bringing home the Grand Slam titles. Her latest was the US Open for women’s wheelchair doubles.
The proudly South African wheelchair tennis star Kgothatso Montjane has played her way to becoming a Grand Slam champion alongside fellow Japanese star Yui Kamiji in the women’s wheelchair doubles twice now! It is clear that this powerful duo are here to play and to play well!
The Limpopo-born athlete made history in 2018 and 2021 by becoming South Africa’s first black woman to reach a Wimbledon singles final. Her tennis career has been on the rise ever since and she continues to inspire at every tournament she earns her place in.
She recently took part in the US Open Tennis Championship and is now bringing home another winning title. This win bumps Montjane to a world ranking of 3 for women’s doubles. She currently has a win rate of 79% and on clay surfaces, that rate is 100% with 11 matches played and won!
