The Springboks take on Italy, Sundowns chase more continental silverware, and South African athletes prepare for action at home and abroad.

Global (06 November 2026) – From the Springboks’ Italian challenge to a football showdown at Loftus, there’s plenty to keep South African sports fans entertained this weekend. Whether you’re backing the green and gold, heading out for a run or looking forward to some continental rugby and football, here are four events worth having on your radar.

Springboks Take on Italy in Crucial Nations Championship

The Springboks are back in action on Saturday, with Italy standing between them and an important step towards the inaugural Nations Championship final.

Damian Willemse and Ruan Nortje have made it clear that the world champions will not be taking the Italians lightly when the sides meet in Turin. With a place in the 29 November final still in their sights, the Boks know that a strong performance is essential.

“We are trying to play for a cup in a few weeks’ time, but the most important week is this week,” Willemse said.

HOKA HALF Brings Running and Festival Vibes to Johannesburg

If running and a good party sound like your kind of weekend, the HOKA HALF is bringing both to Johannesburg on Saturday.

Taking place at the Randburg Sports Complex, the event offers three distances: a 21.1km half-marathon, a 10km race and a 5km fun run.

But this is about more than chasing a finish time. Participants can look forward to live DJs, themed participation, a Party Lane versus Fast Lane experience and a post-race music festival. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply looking for a fun way to get moving, there’s something for everyone.

Young Springbok Women’s Sevens Squad Heads to Kenya

South Africa’s next generation of women’s sevens talent will be in action at the Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens tournament in Nairobi on 7 and 8 November.

Vianca Boer will captain the Springbok Women’s Sevens ‘A’ side.

South Africa have been drawn in Pool A alongside Zambia, Zimbabwe and Rwanda.

Sundowns Prepare for Continental Showdown at Loftus

Mamelodi Sundowns will have home advantage when they welcome Algeria’s USM Alger to Loftus Versfeld on Sunday for the 2026 CAF Super Cup.

The 15:00 kick-off brings together the reigning CAF Champions League winners, Sundowns, and Confederation Cup champions, USM Alger, in a battle for continental silverware.
