Having already proven their mettle with silver and bronze medals at the national level, Zoë Limberg and Monthati Qholosha have earned the incredible opportunity to represent South Africa at the largest international touch rugby event.

Alberton, South Africa (25 June 2025) – Zoë Limberg and Monthati Qholosha are shattering expectations and proving that South Africa’s young female rugby talent is a force to be reckoned with. They’re not just dominating on home soil; they’re ready to conquer the big leagues and show the world what they’re made of!

The touch rugby duo is poised to take the international stage, having been presented with the amazing opportunity to play for their country at the upcoming Atlantic Youth Touch Cup in Limerick, Ireland, from 31 July to  3 August.

“This is more than just a tournament, it’s a chance for us to compete internationally, grow as players, and proudly showcase our skills on a global stage,” they said.

Their 2024 achievements at the national level playing for Easterns Touch Association U19A earned them silver and bronze medals and the coveted spots in the Youth Touch Cup, the largest international touch rugby event. With over 700 athletes from Europe, America, Africa and Asia and more than 30 teams across seven age groups, it’s truly a global stage for young talent.

However, this dream hinges on community support.

“To make this dream come true, we need your support,” appealed Zoë and Monthati.

“The trip is self-funded, and we need to raise R60,000 each to cover flights, accommodation, tournament fees, kit, and meals.”

They have launched BackaBuddy campaign to help reach their goal, clinch an incredible opportunity, gain international experience, grow in the sport, and fly the South African flag with pride.

In addition to the campaign, the girls have also put together an appeal flyer which they will be handing these out at local traffic lights to help spread the word and boost their fundraising efforts.

“Any contribution, no matter how small, will bring us closer to Ireland and help us represent our country with pride. Thank you for believing in us and supporting our journey!”
