Another international hosting moment for SA that’ll see global champs unite, inclusivity flourish and world titles tackled.

Centurion, South Africa (31 August 2023)—South Africa will once again play host to a gathering of global champions! Come September, Tshwane will host the 2023 Down Syndrome International Gymnastics World Championships where talents from big nations will compete.

Now in its fourth year, the DSIGO World Championships is a prestigious opportunity that broadens the world of sport to see a different side of excellence through various gymnastics disciplines from artistic to rhythmic gymnastics.

Six different countries and their athletes will unite in Centurion’s Matsport Centre, including Italy, Mexico, Bulgaria, Argentina, the USA and of course, South Africa.

All SA eyes are on local Charles Phillips who, two years ago, performed incredibly in Germany and won three silver and one gold.

Other athletes hold world titles, are Special Olympics Champions and all are changing the narrative around sport and ability, which is the biggest win in our book!

The Down Syndrome International Gymnastics World Championships will take place from 23-24 September.

Meanwhile, in other recent sports inclusivity news, South African swimming masters brought all the heat to their heats in Japan, with record smashes and medals galore!
