Team South Africa’s rhythmic gymnasts are preparing to go for gold in Egypt as they face off against top competitors for both the African Championships and the Pharaoh’s Cup!
Cairo, Egypt (02 May 2025) — Several South African rhythmic gymnasts are preparing to go for gold in Egypt, where two massive competitive events are taking place.
Some of South Africa’s top talents will put their many hours of training to the test as part of the 19th African Championships, while others gear up for the Pharaoh’s Cup!
Our gymnasts are no strangers to success at the African Championships. In 2023, they made history when the entire South African Artistic Gymnasts squad took gold at the Champs’—the first time since 2006!
In terms of rhythmic gymnastics, the competitors representing home soil are duo Chade Jansen and Stephanie Dimitrova. Hot off the heels of showcasing her skills in another part of the world, Dimitrova recently competed at the International Gymnastics Federation—FIG Rhythmic Gymnastics Sofia World Cup held in Bulgaria in early April. Chade Jansen was the Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior Olympic All Around Champion (North West).
As for the Paraoh’s Cup, it’s a team of Almone Bosch, Tricha Richards, Nia Muller and Isabella Sancho, along with coaches Tazmiah Francis and Cecile Allen—all of whom have achieved a great deal in earning their place to represent SA among gymnastics’ elite.
It’s all happening today (2 May) until 4 May, and we’ll all be roaring loudly for our champions back home.
Meanwhile, in other news where South Africans have made us proud on the world stage, robotics team Texpand shattered records and achieved impressive scores at the FIRST World Championships held in Houston, raising the bar once again for SA in the global world of tech and science!
