Siya Kolisi has made history by becoming the first black captain to lead the Springboks in a Test match. He has been showered with love and praise.

Twitter has exploded with excitement and support after the announcement that Siya Kolisi has been named Captain of the Springboks for the test match against England.

At the age of 26-year-old, Kolisis has become the 61st Springbok captain, and also the first black South African to lead the Springboks in a test match.

The decision was met with overwhelming positivity on social media, including praise from celebrities and fans alike. They have been congratulating Kolisi on his historic position.

Siya was born in the Zwide township near Port Elizabeth. At the age of 12, he impressed scouts at a youth tournament in Mossel Bay and was offered a scholarship at Grey Junior in Port Elizabeth. He then went on to attend the Grey High School where he was part of the first team. He took part in the famous Craven Week before moving to Cape Town to join Western Province.

Playing as a loose forward, Kolisi is also the Stormers captain. He has played in 28 tests since making his debut at age 22 against Scotland in Nelspruit and has four test tries to his name.

The matches fall within the week of Siya’s birthday, the second being on his actual birthday, the 16th of June when he will be turning 27.

The dashing family man has a very bright rugby future and we are so proud to see so much love and support going his way.
