South African archers returned back home as champions after striking gold and world records at the IFAA World Field Archery Championship in Brazil!
Global (14 August 2024) — Last week in Brazil’s Foz do Iguaçu, archers from around the world gathered for the IFAA World Field Archery Championship to make their home countries proud. Among them were a dedicated team of 24 South African archers who aimed for gold and followed through right on target!
Representing the South African National Indoor and Field Archery Association (SANIFAA), the South African archers took no prisoners as 18 Protea shooters and their talented teammates competed across 11 different categories. Here, South African archers claimed something of a gold rush with 12 gold medals, 6 silver and 3 bronze. Some shot the lights out even further by setting new national and world records, including youngsters Liam Strauss (who is just 16) and Xante van Zyl.

The team competitions also saw out archers claim gold on two counts(Free Style and Bow Hunter) as well as a bronze for the Champion of Nations event.
