Stormers Tries4Smiles

For every rugby try the Stormers get, Vodacom donates R3,000 to the Smile Foundation, so the team visited the kids at Tygerberg Hospital to spread smiles, love and joy.

The Stormers will be playing against the Bulls this coming weekend. Every try the team scores will help fund life changing operations for children at the Tygerberg Hospital.

The team has joined forces with Vodacom to raise money for the Smile Foundation. Vodacom will donate R3,000 to the foundation every single time a try is scored by one of the Stormers.

To inspire the team to score big in their upcoming game, the Smile Foundation took them to visit the children who’s lives they will change. The team sat with the children, coloured in and chatted about all of their favourite things. The Smile Foundation’s chief executive Hedley Lewis is really happy that the Stormers are working to make a difference.

“You guys coming here today and sharing some of the journey of some of the patients is saying you’re supporting the likes of the health professionals and want to be side by side with parents who walk long journeys,”

The Smile Foundation offers reconstructive surgeries to children with cleft palate and facial deformaties. Giving them the opportunity to better their lives.

The guys felt moved by metting the children and plan to give their very best performance on Saturday.

“I feel blessed to be here, sometimes we take things for granted, but to see these kids and see how much they appreciate that they can breath, walk and run, its special. I see the joy it brings to their families. I have enough motivation to score tries now. It’s a wonderful initiative of Smile, we want to score more tries now, so it will be good motivation,” – Nizaam Carr, Stomers Player No.8

Watch one of the children that received a reconstructive surgery below. He was invited to join the Stomers on game day and had an absolute blast.
