The very best in South African radio received their flowers at the Telkom Radio Awards on Saturday, hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre.
Johannesburg, South Africa (08 December 2025) – Now in its 15th year, the awards ceremony honours the very best in South African community, campus, commercial and public broadcasting. It recognises Mzansi’s most loved voices, initiatives and stations that contribute towards our local radio talent.
This year, over 70 awards were given!
Community station Groot FM 90.5, campus station Tshwane FM 93.6, public broadcasting station Ikwekwezi FM and commercial station Hot 102.7 all won top prize as Station of the Year in their divisions.
Where would we be without our Afternoon Drive presenters? Probably in traffic, bored. This year, Darren Scott was recognised for Just Plain Drive on commercial radio’s Hot 102.7 FM. Joining Scott, Zanele Ndala from Tuks FM’s Drive with Zanele Ndala (campus), Jacques ‘Doepie’ Du Preez from GrootFM’s Die Groot Trek (community), and Tembela Booi from TRUFM’s truDrive (PBS) also took the honours.
Community initiatives received well-deserved recognition too, including OFM’s Cycling Santa, GrootfM’s #GROOTskool, VoW FM’s VOW Breakfast Human Rights at Constitution Hill and Lotus FM’s Breakfast Express.
Keeping us on top of the facts, Radio 702’s Midday Report With Mandy Wiener won best commercial News and Actuality Show, joined by Radio Khwezi’s Sakha Isizwe with Saziso Dlamini (community) and SAfm’s Talking Point (public broadcasting).
Then there was Best Podcast, which went to KFM 94.5’s Mornings with Darren, Sherlin and Sibs Darren ‘Whackhead’ Simpson and Best Internet Radio, which recognised Moneyweb Radio’s Moneyweb At Midday.
